Ward 6, Born and Raised

Born and raised in Ward 6, Peter is the son of Ukrainian-Canadian immigrants who left communist Poland to build a better life for their family. After finishing his undergraduate degree in chemistry at McMaster, Peter moved to Ottawa for his master’s degree and then Toronto for law school. Since moving back to Hamilton, Peter has been active in his community: volunteering, showing up for the community, and putting in the work to build his own law firm in Hamilton.

In his day job as a trade lawyer, Peter represents Canadian companies and workers to make sure that they understand the today's complicated world of customs and trade law. He believes in standing up for Canadian businesses and workers, giving them a seat at the table, and making sure that our economy takes into account the needs of workers and small business – not just large corporatioins.

Peter’s experience in law has convinced him that a strong society is based on fairness and the shared success of individuals and the communities they are a part of. Peter believes that Ward 6 residents want and need a resilient economy that works for everyone – an economy that provides strong municipal services while respecting the sacrifice and hard work that it takes to fund and deliver those services.

Peter has witnessed firsthand the challenges Hamiltonians face: a housing market that locks out too many families, a healthcare system struggling to keep up, infrastructure stretched way past the breaking point, and a local economy at the mercy of international instability. But he firmly believes in the power of empathy, perseverance, and community, and that no challenge is too great for the people of Hamilton to overcome together.
